Kitutu Chache South MP Anthoney Kibagendi has decried the high number of child defilement cases in Kisii and attributed it to parental negligence.
He asked parents to be conversant with laws defending children’s rights to enable them report such cases to the relevant authorities for legal action.
“The government provides a lot of money to support the education of the child in this country and expects parents to take care of their children for their uninterrupted studies,” he said.
The MP was speaking in the constituency as he criss-crossed it for three days inspecting school infrastructural projects funded by the NGCDF.

Among the schools he visited included St Catherine Iranda Secondary, Rwora and Soko Primary where he inspected the renovation of classrooms and construction of modern washrooms.
He said his office has used more than Ksh68 million to support education development in the constituency.
Concerning the ongoing debate to scrap the NGCDF, Kibagendi asked the government to uphold it, arguing that many children from poor families have access to education through it, and stopping it is tantamount to murdering the poor in society.
He asked elected leaders to ensure peace in the country instead of dividing people for selfish gain.
