Monari named new HELB boss

Geoffrey Monari,

The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) has named Geoffrey Monari as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), succeeding Charles Ringera, who held the position for two terms since 2013.

Monari brings over 15 years of experience in senior management roles within the higher education financing sector. Before this appointment, he served as the founding CEO of the Universities Fund for four years.

Prior to that, from 2016 to 2020, Monari was HELB’s Chief Operations Officer (COO), where he spearheaded strategic initiatives in student lending, enhanced debt management processes, and fostered partnerships, resource mobilization, and stakeholder engagement.

He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a Bachelor of Commerce degree. Additionally, he has completed the Senior Management Leadership Programme and is currently enrolled in the Global CEO Africa Programme at Strathmore Business School.

HELB Chair David Ekwee expressed confidence in Monari’s leadership, noting that his vast experience and comprehensive understanding of the higher education financing landscape will help drive HELB forward, ensuring the organization continues to serve its stakeholders with excellence and integrity.
