The Ministry of Education has asked parents and guardians to register their school-going children with the Social Health Authority (SHA).
Education Principal Secretary Dr Belio Kipsang, in a letter addressed to County and Sub-County Directors of Education, said that the registration must be completed before February 28, 2025.
This directive is part of the government’s broader plan to ensure healthcare access for all learners.
Dr Kipsang added that the registration aligns with the constitutional right to healthcare services.

“The Act mandates that every Kenyan, including children, must register with the SHA. Therefore, parents and guardians are required to register their school-going children on the Social Health Authority’s website at afyangu.go.ke or by dialing (*147#) and following the instructions,” the letter reads.
The Ministry has also called on schools to promptly inform parents about the registration process and to provide any necessary assistance to ensure compliance before the deadline.
