The Ministry of Education (MoE) is in discussion with the International Poverty Action (IPA), to explore ways of establishing a hub that will help to harness the power of data to improve policy actions on issues on education.
The hub, dubbed as Education Evidence Hub (EEH) will, once established, enable policymakers to have the capacity to analyze and generate usable data to guide policy actions on problems and challenges on various aspects of education.
The Head of Policy, Partnership and East African Affairs, Bartholomew Lumbasi, said the Hub will improve the consolidation, analysis and synthesis of information to guide decision-making on education matters.
He spoke during a workshop which brought together officials from the Ministry of Education to appreciate the operations of the hub.

He said the hub will leverage the Kenya Education Information System (KEMIS). KEMIS serves as a single source of truth and a one-stop shop for all information about learners and other critical aspects of education.
The system will guarantee access to accurate data for planning and strategic decision-making on various aspects of education.
The Country Director of IPA in Kenya, Ginger Golub, said her organisation brings together leading researchers and decision-makers to ensure that the evidence they create leads to tangible impact on the world.
She said the hub is an innovative approach to policy making that fosters the identification of cost-effective innovations in education policy, which are piloted and evaluated using administrative data to determine their effectiveness.
The session drew participants from the Ministry, Teachers Service Commission (TSC), Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) among others.
