The Ministry of Education has announced a mass recruitment of chairpersons and council members for public universities and constituent colleges.
According to a notice published in the government publication, MyGov, the Principal Secretary for Higher Education and Research, Beatrice Inyangala, candidates applying for the chairperson position must possess a PhD from a recognized university, demonstrate proven leadership and management experience, and comply with Chapter Six of the Constitution.
The notice states that the government intends to make necessary changes within these institutions.
To be eligible for membership on university councils, candidates must hold at least a master’s degree (excluding executive master’s degrees) from an accredited university.
Additionally, they should have experience in leadership and management, as well as comply with Chapter Six of the Constitution.

“The Ministry of Education, State Department for Higher Education and Research, is recruiting chairpersons and members of councils for public universities and constituent colleges,” the notice reads.
Shortlisted candidates must present the following documents during the interview: a Curriculum Vitae, Identity Card, academic certificates, testimonials, and a CUE Recognition/Equation Certificate for foreign qualifications.
Furthermore, successful candidates must submit a certificate of good conduct, EACC clearance, HELB clearance, KRA compliance certificate, and credit bureau clearance to their appointed institution. Applications should include a cover letter stating the desired position, a résumé, and a copy of a national ID or valid passport.
All applications must be submitted to the Ministry of Education by March 4.
