This year, Equity Bank has made a contribution of Kshs 25 million to the National Drama and Film Festivals, spanning from the sub-county levels to the nationals.
The Kenya National Drama and Film Festival has partnered with Equity Bank to oversee the events, recognizing outstanding schools and trainers at various competitions through certificates, trophies, and cash prizes.
This year’s theme for the Kenya National Drama and Film Festival is “Liberating Technology to Nurture Talent while Inculcating Values for Social Prosperity.”
The national festivals will take place in Nakuru in April. Through this sponsorship, Equity Bank aims to motivate participants to excel, push their creative boundaries, and elevate the standard of artistic expression in Kenya.
During the partnership launch ceremony at Muhuri Muchiri High School in Ruai, Nairobi, Nelson Sifuna, the Head of the Directorate of Field Coordination and Co-curricular Activities in the Ministry of Education (MoE), underscored the pivotal role these festivals play in shaping creatives. He highlighted notable figures such as comedian and communications creative Walter Nyambane Mongare, Dagoretti South MP John Kiarie, and former Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala.

Sifuna praised Equity Bank for its grassroots approach to sponsorship, saying, “We are gathered here to witness a momentous occasion. While others prefer to sponsor at the national level, Equity Bank begins at the grassroots, demonstrating their commitment.
On behalf of the Ministry, I want to emphasize the importance of the Kenya National Drama and Film Festivals (KNDFF). These festivals identify and develop talent, instil confidence in our children, and cultivate leadership skills.”
The bank’s Managing Director, Moses Nyabanda, stressed the importance of the festival in displaying the creativity and talent of learners, resulting in their overall development.
He said, “This moment exemplifies the power of collaboration, creativity, and the vast potential of our youth. At Equity Bank, we believe that education is the cornerstone of transformation in society.”
“Our commitment over the years to education has been unwavering. We have empowered thousands of students through scholarships, mentorship, and financial inclusion. Today, we extend our partnership by supporting the Kenya National Drama and Film Festivals—a premier platform that nurtures creativity, talent, and self-expression.”
The collaboration between the Lender and the MoE focuses on three key pillars, including promoting creativity and talent development and celebrating the richness of culture and the dynamism of the people.
Additionally, it would help monetizing talent and fostering entrepreneurship, helping creatives transition their passion into sustainable enterprises that create jobs and transform communities.
Lastly, it will assist in rewarding excellence and encourage top performance by contributing Kshs 25 million to support the festivals and sponsoring 16 Equity genres within the festival.
