MoE: Applications for UK scholarships for PhD, Masters students now open

The State Department for Higher Education and Research has announced that the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC) to Kenyan citizens tenable in 2025 is now open for students who wish to pursue Masters and PhD studies in the United Kingdom (UK).

In an announcement seen by this publication, there will be 10 PhD and 19 Masters full scholarships which will be tenable at any approved UK University that hosts CSC awardees.

The online application which kicked off on September 10 will elapse on October 15, 2024 with the fields of study being Food Security and Nutrition, Manufacturing, Health Care, Housing, Digital and Creative Economy, and Transforming MSMEs.

For eligibility, one should provide proof of citizenship, provide a degree and Masters degree for PhD students from a recognized university with strong academic background, supporting statements from 2 referees, a proposal in the area of study clearly showing the potential impact on the development of Kenya, quality study plan, and availability to start academic studies in the UK by the start of the UK academic year in September, 2025.

“Printed copies of completed applications should be submitted to the Ministry of Education not later than 5:00 pm on October 2024,” the announcement reads in part.

Interested and qualified students are advised to apply through https://cscuk.cdo.gov.uk/scholarships/commonwealth-phd-scholarships-for-least-developed-countries-and-fragile-states for PhD students.

Masters students are to apply through https://cscuk.fcdo.gov.uk/scholarships/commonwealth-masters-scholarships
