The Ministry of Education has affirmed its commitment to ensure there are no examination malpractices in the ongoing Kenya Certificate of Secondary Schools Examination (KCSE).
Busia County Director of Education (CDE) James Ekale Ekalyo has reiterated their commitment to curb the vices in all examination centres in the county.
Speaking at Amagoro in Teso North after overseeing the opening of the examination container, Ekalyo said there was proper coordination between various government organs, including security, to ensure the exams are free from malpractices.

“No phones are allowed in the exams rooms and other stipulated guidelines must be followed by those overseeing the exams,” he said, adding that no exam will be done in police cells or prisons.
He directed that such candidates be escorted by their respective security teams to exam centres, while those in hospitals will be allowed to sit their exams in the health institutions under the supervision of an invigilator and security officer.
His sentiments were echoed by Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Busia County Executive Secretary Moffats Okisai, who insisted that the exams should be devoid of any malpractice and exam supervisors accorded a conducive environment.
Okisai also urged Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) to improve terms of service for teachers, noting that Ksh600 per day payment to center managers was a drop in the ocean.
There are 167 exam centres in Busia with a total of 20,000 candidates, 10,219 being girls and 9,781 are boys.
