Kakamega County Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) will soon table a motion to review the awarding of bursary funds to ensure needy students get sponsorships.
They said the current bursary allocation system is biased and should be reviewed.
Butali /Chegulo Ward representative, Kevin Mahelo said plans are underway to change the handling of bursary funds to benefit deserving students.
“Bursary funds should be handled at the sub-county level,” he said.
“We are going to instruct chiefs through the co-ordination of Nyumba Kumi to present all the lists of students in secondary schools, colleges and university from his ward to assist him on equal distribution of bursary where every learner will be entitled to an allocation.
Mahelo further pledged to construct 2 door toilets in12 schools in his ward through the assistance of a donor he has identified.
