A Member of County Assembly (MCA) Steve Arika has launched an annual mentorship programme for boys in both primary and secondary schools in the area in collaboration with Daraja Mbili Youth volunteers and other nominated leaders.
The Ibeno Ward MCA revealed that he realized there was a huge gap in boys’ mentorship and decided to team up with other like-minded persons to reach out to as many boy children as possible.
Arika, who spoke to Education News in Kisii town, noted that they were expecting to roll out more similar helpful programmes in the ward.
The MCA has been behind the successful Riangabi Youth Empowerment programme which runs during the holidays with an aim of minimizing drug abuse.
He has also employed several jobless but trained teachers as they wait for formal employment.
