Kilifi County’s Sokoke Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) Thaura Mweni has urged more parents to apply for bursaries for their children.
Speaking during a public meeting recently, he said that the bursaries will enable students to pursue education, saying that education is the only key to achieving rapid development.
He asked parents in the area to strive to get income to pay school fees for their children instead of depending on the bursaries which are insufficient for all needy children in the ward.
At the same time, Thaura urged parents to ensure that their children maintain high discipline standards adding that it will boost their pursuit of excelling in examinations.
He asked them to closely monitor their movements during and after school.
