The administration of Matuu Primary School in Muthetheni, Mwala Sub-County, Machakos County, has dismissed allegations that recent classroom renovations were poorly executed.
The claims, made by former Muthetheni MCA Leonard Katela, alleged that a specific classroom was poorly renovated by the contractor under the Mwala NGCDF initiative.
However, the school head, Florence Kilei, refuted the allegations, accusing the former MCA of politicizing the matter. She clarified that three classrooms were renovated and assured the community that the work met the required standards.
“Everything was done well. We didn’t build new classrooms; it was only renovations for three. I was present daily during the renovations. The iron sheets are new, the cracks were sealed, and the classrooms now look great,” said Kilei.

Boniface Mwanzia, the chair of the school’s Board of Management (BOM), encouraged anyone with concerns to visit the school for clarification.
“The public works engineer visited the school, supervised the renovations, and provided a report. It’s not right to spread unfounded claims. Our gate is always open for anyone seeking information,” Mwanzia stated.
He emphasized the need to avoid misinformation, noting that it undermines the school’s progress.
