Man arrested for kidnapping 7-year-old boy in Kiambu

Joseph Muriithi Kibutu was arrested in connection with kidnapping a seven year old boy.

A 33-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the kidnapping of a seven-year-old boy in the Mwihoko area of Kiambu County.

The arrest occurred on Monday February 17, following coordinated efforts by police officers and DCI detectives based at Githurai Police Station.

The incident began when the child’s parents were shopping at Savory Supermarket in Mwihoko and suddenly realized their son was missing. Despite their frantic search within the store, they were unable to locate him.

In a moment of desperation, they received a call from an unknown individual who claimed to have their son and demanded a ransom of Sh100,000 for his safe return.

Using forensic evidence, detectives were able to track down the suspect in his hideout at Githurai Railway area.

They successfully rescued the missing child and returned him to his relieved parents, who expressed immense joy at their reunion.

As the family is now together, the suspect, Joseph Muriithi Kibutu, remains in custody and is undergoing processing while awaiting his court appearance.
