Malava MP lauds school Principal for highest bursary applications

Malava MP issuing cheques to principals recently.

For the second year in a row, St Anthony Kakoyi Secondary School in Malava Constituency has recorded the highest number of bursary allocation in Malava Constituency toppling over 50 schools within.

The Malava MP Malulu Injendi while handing over cheques to schools and colleges acknowledged the efforts the Principal Linet Kidiga has put in place to secure bursary for her students terming the move as encouraging and out to cushion parents especially in this hard economic turbulence being experienced across the country.

Malulu assured the Principal that his office will continue supporting her initiative to have students in school and at the same time challenged other school principals to follow suit.

“This Principal is out to assist the parents apply bursary and it’s a good move as it cleanly shows she is concerned with the education of her learners and I’m calling upon other principals to benchmark with her and know what criteria she applies to bring on board many applications. She is education oriented and uses her good communication skills to talk to parents on the need to have bursary.”

Malulu observed that the school has also seen an increase in enrollment and performance due to high numbers of bursary application. This year it was awarded KSh1.9 million from the initial KSh1.8 million in 2023.

The MP who is also a member of the Parliamentary Education Committee further added that with such amount being disbursed to the school, issues of students bring send way was minimal hence giving the learners time to study and revise.

While receiving the cheque, the principal noted that the funds will go a long way in ensuring learning continuity which leads to good results.

“We are blessed to have maintained our application status and I thank the MP and the entire CDF office for its consideration as this has impacted positively on our smooth running of the school. We will continue to embrace close working relationship between us to the benefit of our learners, and soon we will be celebrating the effect of maximum bursary application.

The good thing is the office does not look upon any good application presented to them, let’s all be good ambassadors to our students and parents by encouraging them to apply fully as this is one way of assisting those needy parents as it enables their sons and daughters stay in schools before as they look for the remaining balance.”

She assured her parents that she will continue to support them on the programme so that many can enjoy the benefits.
