Makueni Sub-county Education Director Yophes Magara has said that there are no major issues in the sub-county as far as the floods are concerned.

He noted that they are still doing round checks in the schools but their main concern is sinking of many toilets.

“Although the learners are at home we don’t know until when, we have reported the issue to the Government and we are waiting for the funds to help in reconstructing immediately when the time is right,” Magara.

He also noted that no school has defied Governments order of reopening schools and no one can dare.

“All in all we thank God that there is no reported death on any learner or their teachers in the sub-county as a result of flooding and we pray that we don’t get such cases,” Magara.

With current data of those who lost their lives in flood standing at about 219, he encouraged parents to keep their children busy at home as they wait for the Government to announce school reopening when it’s safe to do so.

Magara reminded the parents to be keen with their children and not let them play near water masses.
