The government will elevate Siaya Institute of Technology to a National Polytechnic in honour of Engineer Jackson Owalo, ICT CS Eliud Owalo’s father, who was a great educationist.
This was announced by the Cabinet Secretary (CS) for education Ezekiel Machogu, who said the upgrading will increase the capacity for training and research in technical education within the lake region.
Machogu was condoling the family of his cabinet colleague Owalo junior at Asembo, Rarienda Constituency in Siaya County.
Residents mourned the late Owalo senior as an inspiration, great scholar, philanthropists and leader who left an indelible impact in the society.
“Today we lay to rest an academic hero, as we hope that his offspring will follow in his footsteps to work with zeal in the service of the communities,” said Machogu, reiterating his clarion call for national unity.
