Tragedy has struck Milaani Comprehensive School in Ndithini, Masinga sub-county, Machakos county after the head teacher passed away while overseeing a classroom construction project.
According to Milaani Sub-Chief Magdalene Mutua, the head teacher had been inspecting the construction site of a new Grade 9 classroom on the school grounds when the tragedy struck.
“He was passionate about the school’s development and was personally involved in overseeing the new classroom project. His collapse was unexpected and has left us all in shock,” she remarked.
Witnesses say the teacher had been speaking with construction workers moments before collapsing.
Staff members immediately sprang into action, rushing him to the closest health facility where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The cause of his death has not yet been established.

Police have launched a thorough investigation into the circumstances of his death. His body has also been moved to Masinga Sub County Hospital for autopsy.
Community members described the headteacher as a dedicated educator who went above and beyond his duties to see that the students and the school succeeded.
