The little-known school on the hills of Mbooni East, Kyome Mixed Secondary School in Makueni has produced six students to join university in last year’s KCSE examination with a candidature of 26.

This is an improvement from 2023 KCSE when they produced two candidates to join university.

The top candidate Gideon Mwendwa Shadrack scored a B (plain) followed by another B (plain). Four other candidates scored C+(plus) being the best results the school has produced.

The little-known giant started in 2014, with everything being an extension of the primary school.

In 2021, it produced two students to university out of 11.

The school Principal Innocent Musango noted that they work by giving hope to the students,” We also have one on one interaction with our students who are very disciplined,” Musango said.

The Principal noted that discipline is not forced but it’s about understanding why one is doing something and its benefits.

Due to this, the school has grown its population to 106 as at now.

In co-curricular, the school is on the international map having produced one boy Nickson Lesiyia in cross circuit and based in Japan currently.

Besides athletics, the school is also good in handball and football.

However, the school is very down in terms of infrastructure— no fence, shortage of staff but it’s trying to manage and still produce the best.
