Learning at Ngwelo Secondary School in Webuye was disrupted today morning morning after irate parents staged a demonstration rejecting the newly posted principal, Judith Nasimiyu.
Chanting slogans and carrying placards, the agitated parents barricaded the roads leading to the school, preventing access and forcing the administration to release students to go home.

Their grievances centred on allegations of incompetence, with reports indicating that this is the ninth school where Nasimiyu has faced opposition.
“Ngwelo Secondary is not a dumping site!” declared Rodgers Matanda, one of the protesting parents, as frustrations boiled over.
Meanwhile, education officials from the sub-county were locked in a crisis meeting to address the growing unrest.
By the time this story was filed, efforts to reach them for comment had been unsuccessful.
