Lamu County Government has extended the submission deadline for bursary applications for 2024 to give parents time to have all details needed filled and for all to apply, Executive Committee Member for Education Sebastian Owanga has said.
“We have extended the time to have the forms returned. The applications are for Forms 2-4,” Owanga said, and they are to be delivered to the sub-county offices across the county.
He said the county receives an overwhelming number of applications each year but some needy cases are sometimes left out because of the short period given.
The extension, according to Governor Issa Timamy, is to ensure parents and guardians get the information needed.
Last year, at least 2,000 students were sponsored.
