KUCCPS hits 145,000 TVET students registration mark in just one year

Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service ( KUCCPS ) has registered 145,000 students in the last one year ( 2022 ) to pursue Craft, Certificate, and Diploma courses in the Technical Training Institutions in the country.

Speaking to Education News immediately after the official closing ceremony of the KATTI Principals Capacity Building Workshop held at Pride Inn Paradise Beach Resort in Mombasa county recently, KUCCPS director in charge of Placements, Mr. John Oluoch said that the trend has enhanced students’ enrolment in the Technical Training Institutions in the country.

He further told principals to submit to KUCCPS a list of recommended students from poor backgrounds who are eligible for government Capitation grants to enable them to continue with their technical education training.

“Technical Training Institutions play an important role in the country in preparing the youth for future self-employment.”, noted Mr. Oluoch.

At the same time, Technical Training Institutions in the country have been told to exhaustively deal with the new Funding model and Curriculum Based Education Training ( CBET ).

Coast regional TVET director, Mr. Pater Mwangi urged Kenya Association of Technical Training Institutions (KATTI) principals to be good ambassadors in preaching the Gospel of  CBET Training in the country.

While officially closing the KATTI Principals’ Capacity Building Workshop held at Pride INN Paradise Beach Resort in Mombasa County recently, he asked the Institutional Heads to fully implement the new Funding model by advising their students more appropriately.
