Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) National Second Vice Chairperson Aggrey Namisi has threatened to sue a local TV station for airing defamatory reports suggesting that he failed to pay scholarship funds for students in Sigalagala Technical Institute.
In an interview with a local vernacular radio station, Namisi strongly refuted claims, arguing that the students in question were already fully funded through Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) loans and scholarships.

He also contended that the allegations were politically motivated, pointing to involvement by certain Webuye East NGCDF officials.
In response to the reports, Namisi produced documentation verifying that the students’ fees were indeed covered, aiming to clear his name and demonstrate transparency. He condemned the media outlet’s coverage, asserting it misrepresented the facts and unjustly tarnished his reputation.
Namisi’s stance reflects broader tensions over the role of media and political influences in educational funding narratives, as he urged media houses to uphold accuracy and professionalism in reporting.
