KNUT Bungoma benevolent scheme secretary laid to rest

A sombre mood engulfed Misikhu village, Bungoma county as the Secretary of Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Burial and Benevolent Scheme (BBS) Bungoma East branch was laid to rest.

The late Maxwell Simiyu passed on after being hit by a speeding vehicle as he was heading home.

KNUT Secretary General Collins Oyuu, represented by National second Vice Chairperson Aggrey Namidi, eulogized the deceased as a hardworking and dedicated teacher and leader who served well in every position he was designated.

Until his demise, the late was a teacher at Holy Family Girls Comprehensive School, Misikhu and Secretary of the union BBS Bungoma East branch.

Oyuu also urged teachers to remain patient as the union continues to fight for their demands, since TSC had already agreed to implement four out of five demands they had presented.

“As the union, we assure the 46,000 Junior Secondary School teachers that the employer, TSC will honour their demand come next year January, where they will be confirmed on Permanent and Pensionable terms,” he said.
