The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Kisumu branch has launched a scathing attack against the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) for profiling exam markers from several schools in Western region.
The branch Executive Secretary Zablon Awange lamented that the teachers have been profiled for no apparent reasons and without proper investigations.
The schools, according to Awange, include; Ulanda Girls, St. Mary’s School Yala, Ringa Boys, Ambira High, St. Peters Mumias, Butere Girls and Nyaminina Mixed.
Others are Sironga Girls, Sameta Boys, Nyamagwa School, Nyalenda Mixed, Sino School, St. Monica-Kitale, Gendia, Teremi Boys, Nyambaria Boys, Friends School Poroko, Riokindo High, Kebabe and Ololunga Boys.
Earlier, Awange castigated KNEC center managers for using motorcycles and Tuktuks to ferry examination papers in some areas, accusing them of diverting funds meant for fuel to personal gain.

The union boss also said that some teachers had complained that KNEC was penalizing them for mistakes made by Center Managers.
“We have received several complaints regarding victimization of teachers and KUPPET is concerned that KNEC is using unfair tactics to solve exam malpractice,” he said. “We abhor exam irregularities but accusing innocent teachers is unfortunate.”
