KNEC launches into 2024 examinations season with top notch preparations

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has officially launched the 2024 national examinations and assessments season, marking a significant step in ensuring a smooth and secure process for millions of candidates.

This year, a total of 2,279,414 students across the country will participate in the national examinations. The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) will be administered to 965,501 candidates in 10,565 centres, while the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) will involve 1,303,913 candidates in 35,573 centers.

To enhance security and the logistical management of exam materials, KNEC has acquired 41 additional containers, raising the total number to 617. These containers will be used to securely store and transport exam materials across the country, ensuring the integrity of the process.

KNEC CEO Dr David Njegere confirmed these measures, underlining the council’s focus on a seamless examination period.

In addition to this, The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has introduced further measures, such as rotating exam supervisors every two weeks to curb cheating and misconduct during the examination period.

The KCSE exams will begin on October 18, 2024 with rehearsals, while the main tests will be conducted from October 22 to November 22, 2024. KPSEA exams will follow from October 28 2024.
