The West Pokot county government has entered a memorandum of understanding with the Kenya Medical Training College to enable the expansion of Medical Training in the region by offering land for its expansion for its campus.
Speaking during the ceremony, West Pokot Governor Simon Kachapin stated that the college which was established in 2016 has grown with student enrolment currently at 2,000 medical students.
He added that the allocation of Arap Market ECDE College premises to KMTC will go a long way to decongest the institution, adding that the training opportunities for local residents had been greatly enhanced.

KMTC Chief Executive Officer Dr.Kelly Oluoch was optimistic, projecting its population to grow to about 2,500 students by next year. He urged the local community to use the opportunity to enroll their children in various medical courses whose scope has now been expanded to include specialized certification in Orthopedic, Trauma and emergency medical technician and diploma in community health.
