Kitale, Nyeri schools shine at Nakihinye national primary schools competition in Eldoret

Kitale Primary School won the overall Nakihinye title after scoring 31 points at the primary boarding schools sports event held at Hill School Eldoret on Saturday, May 25.

Hill School and Moi Nyeri Complex School took second and third places with 27 and 26 points, respectively. The event included various sports such as soccer, volleyball, netball, handball, basketball, and chess.

Despite Nyeri finishing third in sports, they excelled in the Nakihinye exams competition under Principal Vincent Mwangi.

Nairobi School won the boys’ soccer title by defeating Kitale School 3-2 in a thrilling final.

Nairobi’s goals came from Justus Njoroge, Jerry Obonyo, and Pravin Blessed, while Cyprian Arama and Gift Kimani scored for Kitale.

Hill School Eldoret secured third place by beating Nyeri 3-1. In the semifinals, Kitale defeated the hosts Hill 2-1, and Nairobi overwhelmed Nyeri 6-1.

In girls’ soccer, Kitale School won the title by defeating Hill School 2-1, with both winning goals scored by Praise Chesomek. Hill School’s goal was a penalty scored by Sheryl Rotich.

In boys’ volleyball, Hill School emerged as champions defeating Nyeri 2-1. Nairobi claimed third place by beating Kitale 2-1. In girls’ volleyball, Kitale School defeated Hill School 2-0 to be crowned queens, with Nyeri was third place beating Nairobi 2-1.

In boys’ basketball, Nairobi won the title by overcoming Hill School 14-7, with Nyeri taking third place by beating Kitale 9-7. In girls’ basketball, Nairobi defeated Nyeri 18-6, and Hill School beat Kitale 4-1 to take third place.

Kitale School’s girls’ netball team defended their title by defeating Hill School 29-3. Nyeri took third place by beating Nairobi 13-4. In boys’ handball, Nairobi beat Kitale 6-1, while Hill School claimed third place defeating Nyeri 7-3.

In girls’ handball, Nairobi won the title by defeating Kitale 1-0. Hill School secured third place by beating Nyeri 2-1. In the Under-14 girls’ chess category, Kitale School took the top three positions with Fantalis Nduta, Sylvia Abuto, and Esther Joy garnering top points. In the boys’ category, Nyeri took the first and second positions with Wesley Kimani and Oliver Maina, and Carson Mayana of Kitale coming third.

In the Under-12 girls’ category, Angel Gilana from Nairobi came first, followed by Abiyan Jemutai from Hill School, and third was Sharon Wafula from Kitale. In the boys’ category, Davidson Mugo from Nyeri was first, John Chege from Kitale took second place, and Irwin Ndege from Nyeri scooped third position.
