A Kisumu Boys High School student is sitting his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) from a hospital bed owing to his medical condition.
“All our candidates are in school sitting the examinations, save for one who is in hospital,” said School Principal Austin Muma who revealed that arrangements were made and the student who was rushed to hospital this morning is writing his exams there.
The student is suffering from sickle cell anaemia, a condition the principal says he has been living with over the years.
He spoke as other schools within Kisumu Sub-county kicked off the examinations without any hiccups.

The Sub-county Director of Education Charles Angiela says there are a total of 3,547 candidates.
“We have a total of 19 secondary schools, with 13 being public schools while 6 are private,” he said.
Angiela said preparations were adequately done and there is nothing so far to worry about, revealing that the invigilators and supervisors were taken through a rigorous training to ensure the examination is conducted in a transparent manner.
Each examination centre, he said, is provided with two security officers to maintain law and order.
