Kisii University students appeal for road repairs and street lights

Students from Kisii University have appealed to the government to widen the road leading to the institution to accommodate the large number of students who frequently interact with bodaboda operators.

They stated that the road from the university’s main gate to Mwembe Junction is too narrow to allow smooth traffic flow, and if it remains this way, it could lead to many preventable road accidents.

The students, led by their leaders John Obara and Mary Nyambare, called on the university administration to collaborate with the county government to repair the road.

“We do not want to see accidents occur and then blame the government later for not preventing them. That is why we are cautioning them now,” said Obara.

They also pointed out that the road behind the university, leading to Nanoti Students’ Hostels, lacks street lights and urged the area MP, Zaheer Johannah, to visit the institution and observe firsthand the problems students face daily.

While acknowledging the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Nathan Ogechi, as understanding and fatherly towards both students and staff, they appealed to him to leverage his relationships with local leaders to enable the institution to benefit from the corporate development approach championed by the leaders.
