Kisii School has emerged as the champion of the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) Term One Rugby 15s Championship for Kisii County after a commanding 34-0 victory over their arch-rivals, Cardinal Otunga Mosocho High School, on Friday.
Cardinal Otunga, which prides itself on the nickname “Red City” due to its infrastructure, was beaten on its home turf in a match that saw Kisii School assert dominance.
The victory earned Kisii School a spot in the KSSSA Nyanza Region competitions, which will take place in Migori starting tomorrow.
Kisii School’s journey to county rugby supremacy was marked by dominant victories. They first triumphed 52-0 over Sameta School from Sameta County, followed by a 72-0 win against Rioma School from Mastani Sub-county.
Hughes Ombasa, who opened the scoring, and Matrix Matangi, who sealed the victory for Kisii School, were the standout performers in the final. Jackson Kengere and Christopher Jesse contributed to the win, displaying their unrelenting spirit and skill.

The rugby tournament, held at Cardinal Otunga Mosocho in Kisii Central County, saw the participation of teams from the eight sub-counties in the area. Here’s a summary of the results from the competition:

Kisii County KSSSA Secretary Geoffrey Nyantika praised the tournament’s smooth conduct and wished the advancing teams luck in the upcoming regional competition.
