Residents of Bokimonge Ward have expressed concerns about being overlooked in education development projects. Speaking to Education News at Kiru Primary School, they accused the area MP, Obadiah Barongo, of favouring Bombaba Borabu Ward to improve school infrastructure at the expense of other wards like Magenche.

“He is using NG-CDF money to win over residents with duplicated projects to secure votes in 2027, which is still far off,” said James Ontiri. They pointed out that completing Igorera and Oroche Comprehensive schools in Bombaba ward signifies favouritism. At the same time, Kiru Primary School, which was earmarked for development 15 years ago, remains dilapidated.

When the MP launched the 12 classrooms at Igorera Comprehensive School, he downplayed the allegations. He appealed to residents not to listen to the false information spread by his political opponents. “I don’t see any problem developing one area at a time; let them wait for their turn. We are going around in all wards to develop our Constituency,” he said.

Barongo was accompanied by Bombaba Borabu Ward MCA Beatrice Makwaye, who emphasized that the opening of Igorera Comprehensive School would significantly improve the ward’s education standards.

“We want to enhance education standards in our Constituency by supporting infrastructure from the foundational level as we embrace the National Bottom-Up development policy,” he added.

Makwaye echoed his sentiments, stating that the school’s launch will mark the beginning of lasting improvements in education projects in the region.

She also urged the government to consider building a second girls’ school in the ward to accommodate the ever-increasing student population at Magena, the only girls’ boarding school in the area.
