Leaders of Kisii County have asked the government to consider naming one learning institutions after former MP Zebedeoh John Opore in memory of his immense contribution to education development.
Led by County Woman Representative Doris Aburi, the residents said that during his tenure, he used the NGDCF money equitably to support bright students from poor homes to access quality education.
Flanked by nominated Senator Esther Okenyuri, Aburi said that Opore encouraged the support of the girl child in education and through his efforts, many girls from the area achieved their academic goals and careers.

“He encouraged me to join politics as he paid my nomination fees through Jubilee party in 2017,” added Aburi.
Speaking at his Bonyanchaire home in Bonchari Constituency on Thursday, the leaders proposed either Suneka Girls or Nyamatutu Primary schools where he studied as the institutions to be considered.
His last born son Robin said his father, who passed on at 77, was battling a long illness and was in Nairobi Hospital when his time came, describing him as a great family man who loved education.
“My father encouraged anyone who had a desire to pursue education and financed them regardless of their age and social backgrounds,” he said.
The late Opore was born in Bonchari Constituency in 1947. He was elected MP for Bonchari in 1997 prior to appointment as Assistant Minister for Information and Broadcasting.
He will be laid to rest on November 7, 2024 at his Bonyanchaire home.
