Kisii Governor appeals to Form 4 leavers to join TVET colleges

Parents have been told to enroll their children who did not qualify for University entry grades to join Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges.

Kisii Governor Simba Arati said the training will equip them with knowledge and skills that will enhance their employability and also boost their entrepreneurship ventures especially in the agriculture sector.

Governor Arati, who addressed the public during this year’s World Food Day celebration, noted that the region is endowed with fertile soil and industrious people, underscoring the importance of crop diversification for improved nutrition.

“A well fed and healthy nation leads to greater achievements, especially in education and health sector, therefore we must embark on agriculture seriously,” he said.

Arati asked unemployed graduates to form or join youth groups to enable them get government grants for startups in small-scale farming business like poultry keeping, vegetable growing and food kiosks for survival.

The Governor was flanked by his executive team including his Deputy Elijah Obebo and County Assembly Speaker Philip Nyanumba among other officials.
