KISE to hold X space conversations on disability tech in August

The Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE) is organizing a series of conversations on Disability Tech on X (formerly Twitter) Space in August this year.

The conversations which are in preparation for the KISE expo on Specialized Materials, Assistive devices and Technology have been scheduled to take place every friday from 26h July to 30th August 2024. The conversations will last one hour and will kick off from 7.00p.m to 8.00p.m.

Members of the public are expected to join in the X space coversations to learn about practical technological Solutions designed specifically for Special Needs Education and strategies for integrating AI for Learning among other topics. The Key Speakers shall include various players in Special Needs Education sector in Kenya.

Meanwhile the KISE Expo scheduled to run on 5th and 6th September 2024, will explore various aspects in the special needs education arena such as Specialised Learning Materials, Assistive Devices and Technology, Resourcing for Specialized Learning Resources, Assistive Devices and Technology, User Perspective on Specialized Learning Materials, Assistive Devices and Technology, Policy perspective on Specialised Learning Materials, Assistive devices and Technology and AI and the Internet of Things (IoT) for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).

The expo shall be held at the KISE Premises in Kasarani Sub County, Nairobi County.

The key speakers at the forum will include: Nyange Muasya, a lecturer in Disability Inclusion and Assistive Technology at KISE, who will discuss technology for persons with disabilities; Mr. Fred Haga, Director of Special Needs Education at the Ministry of Education, who will address the role of AI in special needs education; and Mercy Yegon, a lecturer in Adapted Learning Resources at KISE, who will cover the topic of resourcing assistive technology.
