A total of 2,580 Form One students in Kilifi County who got admission in national secondary schools have received full scholarships from the county administration to pursue education in the country.
Speaking to Education News in his office in Kilifi town recently, county government Education Ministry Chief Officer, Fredrick Nguma disclosed that all 2023 KCPE candidates who got form one admission in national secondary schools have been awarded full scholarships.
He said that there will be no single bright secondary school student in the county from poor background who will stay at home due to lack of school fees.
The Chief Officer, however urged education stakeholders in the region to cooperate fully and identify students who got form one admission in national secondary schools ,but could not join due to lack of school fees, so that they could be given scholarships to advance their education.
However, Nguma asked parents in the county to make follow ups of their children scholarships so that they be given assistance for their to attend schools as scheduled.
He also urged parents in the region apply bursaries for their secondary school, colleges and university students to enable them to pursue education.
However, he advised parents in the county to cooperate fully and take all their children to schools.
“The county’s rapid development actually needed educated people who will be charged with the responsibility of designing, planning and implementing community development projects,” noted Nguma.
He also cautioned that parents in the region who will refuse to take their children to school will face the law.
