KICD welcomes secondary schools to make suggestions on Grade 10 curriculum design

Prof Charles O. Ong’ondo, KICD CEO. School principals and teachers have been invited to give their input for the curriculum design of CBC's Grade 10.

The Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) has asked education stakeholders, especially secondary school principals and teachers, to engage in the review of the Grade 10 curriculum under the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).

The draft versions of the Grade 10 curriculum design have been made available on KICD’s website at www.kicd.ac.ke.

Stakeholders are encouraged to provide feedback on various aspects of the curriculum design, including essence statements and anticipated learning outcomes, the scope and sequence of topics and sub-topics, recommended learning experiences, as well as proposed assessment methods, learning materials, and extracurricular activities.

Additionally, stakeholders are invited to share their perspectives on any other pertinent suggestions related to the Grade 10 curriculum design and the broader implementation of CBC at the Senior School level.

Feedback should be submitted to grade10feedback@ac.ke or info@kicd.ac.ke by July 31 and addressed to the Chief Executive Officer of KICD.

Since its introduction in 2019, the Ministry of Education has steadily rolled out the CBC, with the first cohort of CBC currently in Grade 8 expected to progress to Grade 9 in 2025 and Grade 10 in 2026, marking their inaugural year at Senior School.
