Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has joined leaders in the country in mourning the 17 pupils who lost their life due to a tragic fire incident at Hillside Private Mixed Primary School, Endarasha in Kieni, Nyeri County.
In a statement released today, Uhuru further wished the 14 students who sustained significant injuries a quick recovery.
“The loss of young lives, full of potential and hope for the future, is a pain that cannot be fully described. My heart goes out to the families who lost their children and the school community deeply affected by this tragedy of unimaginable magnitude. May God give you the strength, comfort, and peace you need as you cope with this loss,” he said.
Other leaders who have given their condolences so far include President William Ruto, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Isaac Mwaura, and Basic Education Principal Secretary (PS) Dr. Belio Kipsang among others.
The tragic fire, which occurred last night at around midnight, has shocked left a lot of people with most of them now calling for increased safety measures to combat similar incidents in the future.
