Kenya School of Law names Kakamega Attorney’s office best for pupillage

The Kenya School of Law (KSL) has accredited the Kakamega county Attorney’s Office as a pupillage training center.

In a letter from the KSL Director-cum-Chief Executive Officer Dr. Henry Mutai to the County Attorney Vivian Mmbaka, the Law School said the County office had successfully gone through the accreditation process and met all the requirements.

This was after Ms. Mmbaka applied for accreditation to offer pupillage through a letter dated June 2, 2022.

“We are pleased to advise that at its meeting held on August 5th 2022, the Kenya School of Law Board approved your institution as a pupillage training center for a period of six months,” the letter read in part.

“We take this opportunity to congratulate you on successfully going through the accreditation process. We look forward to continue partnering with you to enhance legal training in Kenya,” the Law School added.

Ms. Mmbaka welcomed the move saying that it had been her lifelong dream.

She added that it was only Kakamega and Laikipia counties which had been accredited so far to offer training to upcoming lawyers.

“This is another milestone for the county in general and my office in particular. It is a plus to us. I am happy that I will be part of the training program for young lawyers in Kenya. This has been my lifelong dream,” the attorney said.

She explained that the KSL would be sending students to her office to undergo the training program which she said would be part of Corporate Social Responsibility by her office.

“I feel happy that through such trainings, I will be returning back my support to the community and contribute to production of quality lawyers in Kenya,” she said.

The move comes few months after the Attorney’s Office agreed to offer free legal services to victims of Gender Based Violence in the County.
