The Kenya Film Commission has partnered with Vocational Training Centres (VTCs) in rural areas to train youth on basic film making skills that will enable them to earn income through content creation.
In Siaya County, the Commission is partnering with Ng’iya VTC with which they have already managed to train over 200 youth drawn from across the Alego/Usonga Sub-county.
Speaking during the close of the one-week training, the manager of the VTC Afrophilia Achieng’ commended the programme as enabling the young people to identify and nurture their talents.
South East Alego Ward MCA Scholastica Madowo, who graced the occasion, equally commended the partnership, saying the youth were able to produce short films with the skills that they learnt within a training of just one week.
Some of the beneficiaries of the programme Anne Anyango and Isaiah Omondi expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the opportunity that they got, saying this will enable them to create content that can earn them a living.
