It was all celebrations at St. Martin’s Kathonzweni Boys Secondary School as they jollied over posting a mean score of 7.436 in the 2023 KCSE exams, up from 5.745 the previous year.
School Principal Patrick Wambua said that out of 195 candidates, 155 (79.52%) are transitioning to university.
“We are very happy, having a positive deviation of 1.691 is not a joke. We tirelessly worked for it and more so the candidates’ efforts and discipline are commendable,” he said.
Having reported to the school last year, Wambua said that he found very cooperative and hardworking teachers who are very good mentors to the students.
He noted that some of the contributing factors to the good performance were early coverage of the syllabus, thorough revision and strong pastoral programmes in the school.
He noted that this year’s candidature stands at 221 and they hope to perform even better.
