Parents in Kakamega County have been urged to prioritize vocational education for their children, especially with the government now providing funding to public institutions.
Josephat Wanyangu, director of Khaunga Integrated Youth Activities, made this appeal during a recent meeting with students in the Butsotso East Ward of Lurambi Constituency.
“In today’s job market, practical skills are invaluable,” Wanyangu stated. “By embracing vocational education, we can equip our youth with the tools they need to thrive and secure fulfilling careers.”

Wanyangu’s call to action highlights the growing recognition of vocational education as a viable pathway to employment.
“Fields like plumbing, electrical work, and hospitality are not just trades; they are stepping stones to stable jobs and self-sufficiency,” he explained. “Let’s empower our children to become skilled professionals who can contribute positively to our communities.”
