Kajiado North’s NGCDF has allocated Ksh3 million to kick-start the construction of an Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) hub in Nkaimurunya Ward.
The area MP Onesmus Ngogoyo said the hub will aid growth in information technology, productivity and creativity, create job opportunities especially for young people, provide entrepreneurs with tools to build software skills, and aid in the development of digital economy.
The national government has a plan of constructing 1,450 ICT hubs in all Wards across the country, with the president directing all MPs to build them using the constituency resources.
Ruto said the government had approved Ksh40 billion for the project and would ensure all Wards have internet connectivity.
More than 300,000 youth have so far benefitted from the Ajira Digital and Jitume skills organized through the ministry of ICT and that of Labour and Social Protection.
