Kajiado marks 16 Days of activism to end Gender-Based Violence

Kajiado County, under the Department of Gender in partnership with Forum for Africa Women Educationists Kenya ( FAWEK), Fahari ya Jamii and other stakeholders on Tuesday marked 16 Days of Activism 2024, unite to End Gender Based Violence Against Women and Girls (GBVWG) at AIC Church – Namanga, Kajiado Central.

The Community is one of the most affected due to outdated cultural practices. In the year 2023, cases of teenage pregnancies were approximately 7,300. This year, about 500 to 800 more girls have joined the tally increasing the cases to a steadily growing 8000.

The Maasai community was urged to shun out outdated cultural practices such as early marriage and FGM, because women or girls are the rock of the society.
