Kwale County Governor Fatuma Achani has commissioned the Chigombero C Kwashasha Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) centre in Mwavumbo Ward, Kinango Sub-county.
Achani reiterated her commitment to laying a strong educational foundation for the county’s youngest learners saying that her administration is focused on ensuring quality education as a fundamental tool to combat poverty and enhance the livelihoods of residents.
Achani noted that education is a powerful tool for transformation, not only uplifting individuals but also driving overall societal development.
She said the county government has invested heavily in improving infrastructure, training teachers, and providing learning materials to ensure children have access to quality education.

“The only aspect we can use to uplift ourselves is by ensuring quality education in our county. This has to start from the ground level,” said Achani.
Under her leadership, the county has built numerous ECDE centres, provided a porridge school feeding programme to boost attendance, and equipped learning institutions with essential facilities such as classrooms, desks, and water tanks.
She said the county has partnered with other stakeholders including non-governmental and private entities to support children with bursary programmes and sponsor needy but bright students to pursue secondary and tertiary education.
“Education is the bridge to a better future. With it, we can eradicate poverty, improve living standards, and secure the future of our children and generations to come,” she said.
Kwale County Deputy Governor Chirema Kombo echoed Achani’s sentiments, emphasizing the county government’s commitment to improving all sectors to enhance the living standards of its residents.
Kombo reiterated the administration’s holistic approach to development.
“For us to prosper, we have to come together as leaders. In Kwale, we speak with one voice for the development agenda of our citizens,” he said.
