Kenya Power has reaffirmed its commitment to education by officially handing over a newly constructed classroom at Namakhele ACK Comprehensive School in Bungoma County.
The KSh 1.29 million project, funded under the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, will accommodate Grade 9 Junior Secondary School (JSS) learners, providing much-needed learning space.
Presiding over the handover ceremony, Bungoma County Business Manager (CBM) Dan Okumu emphasized Kenya Power’s dedication to improving educational infrastructure in underserved areas.
“Education is the foundation for transforming children into valuable contributors to society and the nation. To build a stronger future, we must invest in and empower young learners,” Okumu said.
The new classroom is expected to ease congestion and enhance the school’s capacity to deliver quality education, providing a more comfortable and conducive learning environment for the students.

With a growing student population, Namakhele ACK Comprehensive School has been facing increasing pressure on existing facilities, making the additional learning space a timely intervention.

School administrators, teachers, and local leaders welcomed the development with open arms and commended Kenya Power for going beyond its core mandate of electricity distribution to invest in community development initiatives, a gesture that was deeply appreciated by the community.
This project is part of Kenya Power’s broader CSR strategy, which includes electrifying rural schools, providing learning materials, and developing infrastructure to bridge educational gaps across the country.
