Journalists on a mission to uplift education of needy students

Journalists have been asked to learn to save and give back to society as a way of contributing towards education.

Speaking at Getembe Primary School in Kisii Central Ward, a local Radio Presenter Josephat Sungura said giving back to society blesses the giver.

He said his background as an orphan and the help he received from well-wishers to complete his education compels him to help children who are struggling to make ends meet.

The journalist visited several schools in the area and donated geometrical sets, pens and pencils worth 50,000 shillings to KCPE candidates.

He said he chose to support orphans and those from single parent families because they are vulnerable.

He also promised to do all the shopping for any standard 8  child at Getembe who will get over 350 marks, even as he welcomed others to come on board and join him in giving.
