Security agencies in Nyamira are probing the death of a Sironga Girls High School student and a teacher at Eronge Adventist Primary School.

The KCSE candidate committed suicide last weekend and the teacher was found dead in his bed in a house he aboded within the school compound. He was 35.

Mourning prevailed in the two schools the entire day last Saturday as the Nyamira County’s Department of Health sent a contingency of healthcare providers to administer any emergency needs of the students who were shocked.

The chairman of the Sironga Board of Management (BoM), who is also the Chairman of the Nyamira Conference of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church Dr William Ongaga, termed the incidents shocking and that it was the first time such acts were witnessed in the history of the two institutions it sponsors.

“We have highly trained guidance and counselling teams which are above board in their job and we are just shocked how this cases of suicide would happen,” Dr Ongaga said.
