Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu has dismissed allegations that he dishes teacher employment letters while attending public events in Kisii region.

Mochogu was responding to calls by Members of the County Assembly of Trans Nzoia who requested him to also dish letters for unemployed teachers in the region.

“I want to set the record straight that the mandate of hiring teachers is bestowed on the Teachers Service Commission and not me. The stories are made up and circulated on social media are untrue,” said Machogu.

Machogu also issued a sack threat to Principals who will be sending learners for fees once they resume studies for second term.

The CS instructed all county education officials to ensure the directive is adhered to with teachers who flout it being penalised.

“Every County Director if Education and every TSC Director should ensure that no student is send home on an account of school fees balance,” said the Cabinet Secretary.

Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya blamed some of the Principals in the region for sending students home over lack of meals fee balance affecting learning of the learners.

“The government normally disburses capitation funds for schools but schools come up with exorbitant meal charges to exploit parents,” said Governor Natembeya.
