It is not business as usual for the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) football reigning champions Highway Secondary School after they were thrashed by St Mary’s Kitende of Uganda yesterday.
This was during in the opening match of the ongoing 21st edition of the Federation of East Africa School Sports Associations (FEASSA) games being held in Uganda.
The Kenyan soccer powerhouse kicked off the event with a bad start as two goals netted in the first half from Dennis Kisiriko and Santos Agok saw them lose 2-0 at the recently constructed Amus College stadium in Bukedea.
The team however will seek to redeem themselves tomorrow, August 21, when they face Benjamin Mkapa Secondary of Tanzania in a match scheduled to start at 11:00 am.
Musingu High School, on the other hand, managed to salvage a point in their opening match when they drew with Amus College School (Uganda) with a score of 2-2.
They are slated to face off Kalangalala Secondary (Tanzania) tomorrow at 11:00am.
St Joseph’s Boys Kitale, former KSSSA champions, will kick off their first match of the tournament today at 3:00 pm when they take on Benjamin Mkapa Secondary (Tanzania).
St Joseph’s has been grouped in pool A together with St Marys Ketene (Uganda), Bukedea Comprehensive (Uganda), Highway Secondary School, and Benjamin Mkapa Secondary (Tanzania).

In pool B; we have St Julian (Uganda), Amus College (Uganda), APE – Rugunga (Rwanda), Musingu High School (Kenya), and Kalangalala Secondary (Tanzania).
In the Girls category, Butere Girls defeated Amus College School (Uganda) 2-0 in their backyard whereas St Noa Girls Zzana (Uganda) won against 2-0 Tanzanite Secondary School (Tanzania).
Nyakach Girls, the soccer specialists, drew with their fierce challengers – St Joseph’s Kitale Girls – in a match that ended 0-0. The score was similar between Alliance (Tanzania) and GS Rumera Rukoma (Rwanda) match.
The games shall climax on Tuesday, 27th August 2024.
