The high court has dismissed a corruption petition against Dr Nancy Macharia, the CEO of the Teachers Service Commission(TSC), providing a significant relief for the embattled leader.
The petition had accused Macharia of mismanaging public funds and allowing corrupt practices to persist within the TSC. Allegations included irregularities in the payroll system, with over 466 million in salary overpayments identified, as well as claims of bribery in service delivery.
Besides the legal victory, Macharia’s tenure has been marred by a series of controversies, including accusations of incompetence, corruption, and poor management practices. Under her leadership, issues such as dysfunctional job recruitment portal and concerns over teacher insurance schemes have brought further scrutiny to her role.
